Neighboring Pompano Beach to the North and Boca Raton to the South is Deerfield Beach. It was named after the numerous deer that used to populate the area. First incorporated in 1925 it's name was changed to Deerfield Beach in 1939. As of the 2010 census Deerfield Beach had a population of approximately 75,000 people. It has close to one mile of beachfront. Rt A1A winds through the beach area where several beachfront restaurants and shops can be found. On the west side of the intracoastal waterway is The Cove neighborhood which is favored by boaters for the number of waterfront homes along the network of canals.
Golfers will enjoy the fine facilities at the Deer Creek Golf Club and the surrounding neighborhood of condos, townhouses and single family homes that over look the course.
On the western edge of Deerfield Beach is a Quiet Waters Park. It encompasses 430 acres and is home to the annual Renaisance Festival. Its a great place to take the kids, do some waterskiing or enjoy the mountain bike trails.
