Building Spotlight - Pompano Atlantis - 1000 S Ocean Dr, Pompano Beach, FL
Since I am getting more active with my blog I am going to revive a series of articles that I started this a while back and ran out of time. This begins a series of spotlights of individual buildings along the A1A in Pompano Beach and Lauderdale-By-The Sea. If you are looking for a condo on or near the beach there is a lot to choose from. Each building has its own unique features and personalities. This should help you make a more informed decision. First, I am going to update a few past articles, starting with Pompano Atlantis and then begin featuring other buildings on a regular basis.
Pompano Atlantis was built in 1972. It is located at 1000 S Ocean Blvd in Pompano Beach, FL. It is an 18 story building with 240 units. The first three stories are the parking garage. Access to the the garage is manned by a security guard at all times. Each unit gets one assigned space and there is guest parking on the third level. It has four elevators. Two on the east side of the building and two on the west side of the building. It has its own in house management staff with an office on the first floor.
Amenities include a pool with large deck overlooking the beach, gas grills, a fitness room, mens and womens sauna. There is a banquet room for functions on the third floor. Each floor has a coin-operated laundry room. There is a car wash area on the first floor of the garage.
There are just two different floor plans. The corner units have a split floor plan and the rest has the bedrooms side by side, On each floor the Apartments are lettered A through P. The corner units lettered A and P directly overlook the beach and ocean. The corner units lettered H and I have views of the intracoastal. Although from the first several floors the intracoastal can't be seen. Units A through H have southern exposure and units I through P have northern exposure. The further an apartment is from the east side of the building the less of an ocean view there is. From the north side of the building there used to be a great view of the Pier to the north. The new Sonata building is just being completed and has partially blocked those views. To the south is The Pompano Aegean which is very similar to the Atlantis.
Over the past several years the building has had nearly a total renovation. The exterior has been painted. The lobby has been remodeled. The hallways have been re-carpeted and painted. The pool has been resurfaced and so has the deck. It shows very nicely.

I recently sold a unit on the 18th floor. It was in need of updating but my buyers saw the potential and the price was attractive. What really sold them was the the pool area and we spent some time just hanging out there. While there my buyers talked to several owners in the building and they were so friendly and helpful they actually closed the deal for me. Currently there are 5 units for sale in the building. Recent sales have been from $170,000 to $301,500.
